Exfoliating skin treatment.

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are an exfoliating skin treatment that uses gentle chemical formulas to remove the top layer of dead skin cells. This controlled “damage” to the outer skin stimulates collagen production, resulting in new, healthier skin growth that appears smoother and more youthful.

What are the benefits?

Clients who have experienced the benefits of chemical peels often consider them a veritable fountain of youth, as the treatment can reveal a youthful, vibrant glow on previously wrinkled, sun-damaged and blotchy skin.

Light Peel

SkinMedica Illuminize

The SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel® delivers a vibrant, radiant complexion with little to no downtime. Suitable for addressing mild skin concerns, this superficial peel brightens and evens out the skin’s appearance. After just a single application, the skin will appear more radiant. Given the peel’s superficial nature, patients can expect no peeling or downtime following treatment.

Medium Peel

SkinMedica Vitalize

The SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel® delivers noticeably smoother, more youthful-looking skin after just one application. For best results, a series of three to six peels is recommended. This peel is ideal for treating mild to moderate skin concerns caused by aging and sun damage, such as fine lines, wrinkles, uneven tone, and rough texture.

Deep Peel

SkinMedica Rejuvenize

The SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel™ smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for patients with moderate to severe skin imperfections. After just one peel, patients will see noticeable improvement, with more dramatic results appearing after three to six peels. The peel also helps to improve skin tone and texture, reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, it can address uneven skin caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes.

What is the recovery time?

Gone are the days when old-school chemical peels required downtime from work. Modern formulas have eliminated the need to hide away after a peel. In fact, you can resume your daily routine immediately, as these new peels leave skin looking smoother, brighter, firmer, and more hydrated.

Post-treatment

What can I expect in a chemical peel?

The medical practitioner thoroughly cleanses the client’s skin, then uses a small applicator to carefully apply the chemical solution to targeted areas of the face. Once the solution is applied, the practitioner removes any excess before repeating the process on the remaining areas.

The amount of improvement can vary depending on the initial condition of the client’s skin. Some clients may require multiple treatments over time. With this in mind, the full application can take up to 30 minutes. In the days following the treatment, the client will notice their skin beginning to shed. The severity of this shedding depends on the strength of the chemical peel used.

Safety

Are chemical peels safe?

To clarify, most adverse reactions are rare. Adverse reactions, however, may include:

Sensitivity

Do chemical peels hurt?

Undoubtably, pain is an individual experience. Generally, chemical peels do not hurt. From time to time, however, you may experience a little tingling, tightness, or a change in temperature.

Given these points, while you should not feel pain during or after the procedure, slight increased sensitivity may be experienced after. To avoid irritation or discomfort on your newly resurfaced skin, adhere to the following advice:
