Chemical peels in Indianapolis

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels are a form of exfoliation that can make your skin healthier and smoother. These skin treatments use chemical formulas to gently remove dead skin cells and the top-most layer of your skin. They are based on the concept of creating controlled skin “damage”. As a result, it removes the dead skin, which stimulates collagen production. Consequently, this results in new, healthy skin growth, providing a younger look.

What are the benefits?

Chemical peels may be regarded as the elixir of youth by clients who have reaped the benefits of this treatment. All things considered, their use reveals a youthful, vibrant appearance to previously wrinkled, sun-damaged and blotchy skin.

Light Peel

SkinMedica Illuminize

The SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel® helps provide vibrant, radiant looking skin with minimal downtime. Appropriate for treating mild skin imperfections, this peel brightens the overall appearance of skin and helps to create a more uniform complexion.

After just one peel, skin will appear more radiant. Since this peel is superficial, patients should not expect to experience peeling after treatment and there is no expected downtime.

Medium Peel

SkinMedica Vitalize

The SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel® will noticeably smooth the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and roughness after just one peel, with more compelling results appearing after three to six peels. This peel is most appropriate for patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture.

Deep Peel

SkinMedica Rejuvenize

The SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel™ smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for patients with moderate to severe skin imperfections. Noticeable improvement can be seen after just one peel with more dramatic results that will appear after three to six peels. Patients should expect smoother tone and texture and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Rejuvenize Peel™ can also address skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes.

What is the recovery time?

With old-school peels, you did need to take time off work. However, gone are the traditional formulas of the past. Today, there is no need to go into hiding if you get a peel that uses a modern formula. Modern peels leave your skin smoother, brighter, firmer and more hydrated. In fact, you can immediately go right back to your daily routine.

Post-treatment

What can I expect in a chemical peel?

After thoroughly cleansing the skin, the medical practitioner uses a small applicator to apply the chemical solution to an area of the face. Next, she removes excess solution and the procedure is repeated on other areas.

To clarify, the amount of improvement varies and depends upon the initial condition of the client’s skin. For example, some clients may need multiple treatments over time. With this in mind the application of the peel can take up to 30 minutes. In the days following you will notice your skin begins to shed. The severity of this depends on the strength of your chemical peel.
